Remember my internal debate between AT&T U-Verse and Time Warner Cable? I ended up doing nothing, and then over the summer I decided to bundle everything with Time Warner Cable. Since then TWC has had the nerve to raise my rates, and their phone service sucks. Not that we use the house phone very often. It’s more the kid’s line than anything, because her friends are the only ones who ever call it. In fact, tonight the phone rang and she asked me, “Can you get that for me?”
Ummm, yeah.
So I answered it for her and it was a recorded message from Scott Walker. He’s running for the governor of Wisconsin. I hung up on him. I’m not a fan of the recorded message.
ANYHOW.
Last night my doorbell rang and when I answered it there stood a very nice lady from AT&T and she wanted to know if I’d wanted to switch to AT&T U-Verse and I said yes.
I guess all I needed was someone to come over and ask me.

We had a bad experience with AT&T. We will never use them again. When my wife’s father was dying we had to make an International call to Canada. AT&T told us we could not call Canada even though we were paid up and had no balance. Our limit for calls was $50 and that call would put us over the limit. They would accept a call against our credit card. We told them to shove their service somewhere where the sun doesn’t shine. We had Sprint the next day.

Guess I’ll have to give AT&T another look the next time we get a flier in the mail. Hope the switch works out for you.

From the time there was cable TV available in our neck of the woods, it was the same company — which eventually became Comcast. Comcast got worse and worse, just as other services became available. (It kept moving out my favorite channels — you can get it if you upgrade — in order to make room for new channels that never appeared.)
I jumped at U-Verse when I got the chance. I get more channels plus our internet connection for only $20 more than I was paying for Comcast. I’ve been very happy with it.
