While visiting Tendrils blog earlier this month I read that she was very excited about this new thing that I had never heard of called Project Life.

And then I immediately wanted one too.
But the problem was that I was too late to have immediate gratification of my want. Becky Higgins, the creator, was in the process of moving her Project Life inventory over to Amazon. I would have to wait.
And I’m not good at waiting.
Every single day I checked to see if Project Life was available on Amazon.
Sometimes twice.
The more that it wasn’t available, the more I convinced myself that this project was EXACTLY WHAT I NEED. I mean, who doesn’t want to just shove movie tickets into a slot that goes into a binder with a small note that says something like:
OMG, THE BEST MOVIE THAT WE SAW THIS YEAR! (So far. It’s only January 3rd.)
I’ve had visions of filling in the scrapbook with semi-daily recaps of my life, adding photographs and stickers and whatever else I can think of . Of course, I’ll be sharing the responsibility with Zoe because this project is something that has her name written all over it. She is so creative. And if she doesn’t grow up to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a veterinarian, or an artist — she will definitely be a scrapbooker.
So, Project Life FINALLY became available this morning on Amazon, and I snatched up a great deal on Saturday delivery, which means that by sundown tomorrow Zoe and I will be recreating all of the highlights from January to put in the scrapbook.
I just hope that I’m a tiny bit better at scrapbooking than I am at waiting. Because the last time I scrapbooked was in 2001 when I planned on doing one page per month for my newborn daughter.
Um, that lasted about three months.
What new mother has time for scrapbooking??
I also have about eight years of digital photographs that I’ve never printed.
Wish me luck!

As much as I love having all those pictures available, I am beginning to think that digital photos carry their own curse. My son — the gadget guy — has been posting his pictures for at least ten years now. Are you sure you want to go through five hundred photos looking for a specific one?
Since my granddaughter was born, he has more or less “dumped the contents” of all their cameras, never pulling out the bad ones… When I worked for editors, we used to get a contact sheet off a roll of film and choose maybe five or six prints that we needed.
I think an online journal is a lot easier for keeping track of “the best movie…” or that new book or “when did I buy that microwave?” But then, as y’all know, I waited my whole life for computers.
